Male Eating Disorder Therapy · Central London & Online
Eating Disorder Therapist
in London
A specialist practice for men who are living with anorexia, bigorexia, binge eating, or a relationship with food and their body that has quietly taken over. Led by Dr Philippe Jacquet, in Central London and online.
Finding an eating disorder therapist in London is not hard. Finding one who works specifically with men, and who understands why men hide this for years, is. Men Who Heal is a specialist male eating disorder practice in Central London, led by Dr Philippe Jacquet, who holds a doctorate in male eating disorders.
Why a men-only specialist matters
Roughly a third of people with an eating disorder are male, yet men are screened for it less, referred for it less, and often tell themselves it cannot apply to them. Much of that silence is shame: the belief that an eating disorder is a "women's illness", or that a disciplined training and eating routine is simply healthy. A service built for men addresses that shame directly, rather than asking a man to translate his experience into a picture that was never drawn with him in mind.
Working this way also changes what treatment reaches. In men the disorder frequently hides inside something praised, a diet, a training plan, a health kick, so the work is not only about food and weight but about the anxiety, control, and old wounds the routine has come to carry. That is the focus of our approach.
What we treat
The practice works across the male eating disorders, including:
- Male anorexia — restriction, control, and the pursuit of leanness, often mistaken for discipline.
- Bigorexia (muscle dysmorphia) — the compulsion to be bigger and leaner that never settles, sometimes called "reverse anorexia".
- Gym and exercise addiction — training that has stopped being a choice and started running your life.
- Eating disorders alongside addiction — where food, substances, or behaviour have become tangled together.
Where and how sessions work
Sessions take place in person in Central London and online, so men elsewhere in London, across the UK, or living abroad can work with the practice without travelling. The format is chosen around your life, not the other way round. Individual therapy is confidential, and structured work can begin from your very first conversation.
Beyond one-to-one sessions, the practice offers a male-only group and a residential retreat for men who want to go further. You can see the full picture on the services page.
You do not need a diagnosis, or the right words, to begin. If food, your body, or training has quietly become the thing that runs your days, that is enough to start a conversation.
